Genoa does not only mean the Aquarium and the Old Harbor, usual destination for the family, but it is also cradle of history, art and culture as well as cuisine, shopping and business. It is a cosmopolitan city which offers a wide choice of entertainment for tourists and businessmen alike.
The Old Harbor area is the ideal venue not only for those travelling with kids but also for the adults; entirely planned by the Italian Renzo Piano, the Old Harbor offers a wide choice of museums and attractions, able to meet all sorts of taste. The Aquarium, obviously, is the symbol of the Old Harbor, but the Galata Museum of the Sea with the submarine, the Bigo panoramic lift, the Galeone the Pirate's Boat, the Museum City for Children and the Antarctica Museums are of great interest as well.
Art and culture are well represented in Palazzo Ducale with its exhiobitions and along the enchanting Via Garibaldi, also known as Strada Nuova and part of the UNESCO Heritage, fulcrum of the Genoa Maritime Republic, among which are Palazzo Bianco, Palazzo Rosso, Palazzo Tursi and Palazzo della Meridiana, just to name a few.
As far as shopping is concerned, the classical venues are Via XX Settembre, Via Roma and Via San Vincenzo, but the "caruggi" (the local alleys) are a perfect choice as well: Vico San Matteo, Via San Luca and Via Luccoli, so rich of craft-shops to discover.
Genoa is the perfect city for everyone!
